I broke my A string while playing, and I got a new one put on. But, it does not sound right when I hit it or any note on that string. It makes a sort of metallic sound, sort of buzzy. I do not what is wrong or how to fix it. Anyone know what's up?
  2. I would just like to congratulate you on breaking a bass A string. Not an easy accomplishment! Be proud of yourself!

BTW you are prolly getting fret buzz. You might need to raise your action. If you are a punk player then raise it all the way up to the roof! Or if your new string is too thin for the nut it could be buzzing on the nut. Put your finger on the nut when you play open A and see if the buzzing goes away. My bass has this problem. . .
