Help with setting up my bass

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by ikickuintheballs, May 15, 2001.

  1. I just adjusted the height of my strings on my warwick b/c they were a little high for my likings. Do I have to adjust the truss rod. I think I would b/c when I re-tuned the bass, the strings were all down flat almost a half step. Well, I have no clue. Any help would be nice. Thanks!

You shouldn't. If you retune the strings to pitch and they don't rattle, don't worry about it. They were flat because you lowered the tension on the strings.
  3. alright thanks.

When do I readjust my truss rod?
  4. Adjust your truss rod when you can't adjust the action with the bridge saddles alone. Like when you get fretbuzz at one end of the board and not the other.

Heavier/Lighter guages of strings may require a truss rod adjustment.

As might severe temperature changes or humidiy changes (like, if you live in canada).
