so everytime i start my computer up and go online, my homepage is automatically replaced with a page that says that my computer has been infected with spyware. it wont let me check my email and it doesnt go away. i can go to talkbass and pretty much anywhere else except yahoo and ebay. i downloaded spybot and that didnt stop it so what now?!?!
  2. you've been hijacked

go to and go to Security, then the FAQ section. Under General Questions, there's a complete set of instructions on how to seek out and remove the offending malware. It's a long procedure so pay attention to the details.

You can get a McAfee cd from ebay for real cheap, I also downloaded "Spyware Doctor" for free from about a year and a half ago and it hasn't failed me yet, you can have it automatically run a "quick scan" when you start up your computer, and it will show you any aquired spyware files that you can delete on the spot before you do anything. Also check your "add/delete" files from time to time.

Hey i tried the spyware doctor and so far it has worked but tomorrow is another day. thanks! :D
  5. Spybot is a free
program that will solve your problem.
  6. Yet there are some malware programs that even Spybot or Spyware Doctor can't fix. CoolWebSearch seems to be immune to these, that's why you need to check out the link to dslreports if the problem persists.

I keep my firewall on, I run Ad-aware daily and Spybot weekly. But most of all I don't download files or visit questionable ;) sites...anymore.... :D

most places reccomend using more than one spyware tool. I am using lavasofts adaware, and the new microsoft spyware tool. together they seem to get most stuff and cost is 0.

The best thing to do is go to and download the free version of Ad-Aware (it's the SE version). This program is free software and will remove spyware from your computer. The website is Swedish, but it's in English (language). I run mine every few days and it catches all that crap. Good luck!!! ;)
  9. It's been a while since someone's said:

    "Stop looking at porn."

or "stop using your porn loader for it's intended purpose."

    +1 for the Ad-Aware. It's good stuff.
  11. I use three things to help fight spyware.
First I use Firefox browser, available at
Its immune to most spyware, and more secure then Internet Explorer.
I also use a combination of Adaware and Spybot. I havent had problems with spyware for a long time.

I had some problems with spyware/adware/all sort of sh!t attacking my PC even though I had firewall, Ad-aware, Spybot, etc. Now I changed to Firefox and I don't get these stuff :smug:
