Hey guiys didn't know where to put this one.

I'm off to Australia next week and taking my fender jaco relic with me, so obviously I'm getting it tucked up in a hard case. However, the tweed one that came with it, although heavy duty, is ridiculously heavy and will leave me having to fork out lots of extra money for more luggage space.

So my plan is to get a shaped hard case, rather than the rectangular tweed one. Could anyone with the tweed case tell me roughly how much it weighs in kilos? I have a 20kg limit to abide by, and that's not including luggage...

The molded cases are significantly lighter. I couldn't tell you quite by how much, the only molded case I have came with a Strat, so it's smaller, and my rectangular case is 25 years old, I think they changed brands sometime in there. I'd say somewhere around 5 lbs lighter, save you about 2 or 3 kg.

I'd go for a SKB Molded case. I have 2 of the rectangular ones [one came w/my ray5] and they have survived airline travel.

    That's all
