I have a cheap P-Bass copy and it works pretty well, but lately it causes this horibble static buzz on my amp. It drowns out my playing but for some reason if I touch the metal voulume/tone knobs it stops buzzing or if something metal touches them it will also. What do you guys think it is, is it the pickups?

Hmmmm ... not enough exclamation points, perhaps. P-Bass buzzes? What's the question?

It's used to lightly buzz, but the damn buzzing is louder than my playing, if my amp is really loud you can't hear any notes at all.

    Hey mate
Depending as to how far you want to go without getting a pro to have a look at it...

I took off my scratch plate and had a look at the wiring. Make sure that there are no shorts anywhere (stripped cables etc), second make sure that the contacts are not earthing at all.

Have you tried playing you bass through another amp? i.e. are you sure it is your bass and not your amp ?

    Kewl.. best of luck mate.

  5. sounds to me like bad grounding....
