Jimi was quite a bass player himself. He played bass on the Electric Ladyland recordings IIRC.

Miles Davis dug him...according to Miles, "Machine Gun" was 'the ****'".

Jack Casady also played bass on Electric Ladyland.
I liked Hendrix' stuff with Billy Cox alot better than the Redding period. Cox worked well with a backbeat drummer like Buddy Miles & still held his own with one Mitch Mitchell.
The Live At Fillmore(Band Of Gypsies) DVD is nice.
