Here's my plan (and a question)

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by 74rickbass, Dec 1, 2002.

  1. OK...first the question.
Do you think essex could make me a model BG-80
with a Rosewood fingerboard? and if they can...

    Here's my plan,
Buy the sunburst BG-80 W/rosewood fboard.
put on a tortis shell pickguard,
put on my dad's 74 P-bass bridge cover,
buy a replacement chrome pickup cover
and put on my d'addario chrome flats.

    what do you think?
  2. Cool. Just buy your own bridge cover.
  3. Why?
    (were you just joking around?)
  4. Why don't you PM Kurt, or find the Essex Megathread floating around the forum somewhere. You could ask him personally.
  5. For these reasons:

    1. Your Dad may want to remount his bridge cover.
    2. Using a vintage part on a new bass is unnecessary.
    3. A new replacement is only $17 at Musician's Friend.
    4. Why do you feel your Dad's gear should be pirated?

My son used my new graphite driver (golf club) without my permission. He scratched it all up.

My son took my golf clubs to play without my permission. He lost my 9 iron on the couse. I had to replace it.

Your gear is your gear. Your Dad's gear is HIS gear. Respect for other's property, and your own self-respect, starts here.
  6. well, for one, he doesn't have that bass anymore, sold it 20 years ago. AND he has only a Fender jazz and a rick now, so he can't use it anymore.
  7. Then ask him if he'll give it to you. Sorry if I'm sensitive about this stuff.
  8. OK...I'll ask him.

well I think, if I only really want the look of a 62 P-bass and can aford anything but an essex my Idea isn't too bad.

    just my 2 cents
