Hey, everyone! i just recently joined the forum (today actually) and i just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here! i'm a bass player (of course!), i've been playing for around 7 years, i play an Ibanez BTB576FM (AMAZING BASS) through a crappy Fender rumble 25, but i'm trying to upgrade my rig. i mainly play prog-rock, although i love playing the Blues and am trying to teach myself the basics of Jazz and Funk. here's some of my favorite bassists: 1) John Patitucci 2) Geddy Lee 3) Les Claypool 4) Ron Carter 5) Jaco 6) Marcus Miller 7) Victor wooten 8) Verdine White 9) James Jamerson 10) John Myung 11) Scott Ambush 12) Nathan East 13) Steve Harris 14) Stanley Clarke 15) Justin Chancellor
By joining this forum you've probably made the best and worst decision of your bass-related life you could ever make! You will come to know more about basses and gear than you will ever need, you will learn not only how to improve yourself as a bassist but as a musician, and you will expand your musical horizons far beyond what you would had you not joined. But, on the flip side you're gonna be broke and pining after gear for the rest of your life ! We call that GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) 'round these parts, lol . Glad to have you aboard, man . Lesson #1: Your bass and/or bass playing skills don't exist until there is a pic of either, so post 'em
Geez, another person who plays bass to hang around OT? I'm feeling really outnumbered now. I may have to go buy a bass and amp just so I fit in. Wait a second.....that is how I got into playing bass the first time. Nevermind, I'll resist the urge. -Mike
Good decision, you will find that TB is a great place, where people who like black dogs with curly hair know everything about compressors, and people with death metal avatars always give good loving advise.
