I've heard about these things called Direct Boxes, or "DIs", and I'm starting to use a rack so all this stuff is new to me. I had a couple questions about them.

    1. What do Direct boxes do?

    2. Do I have to have one?

    3. Do I need more than one?

    4. How do I use them?

    5. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks alot. Craig.

They go out to a PA or a mixer to record. Do you HAVE to have one? no. And no, you dont need more than one, unless its a better one. You use them by running your bass signal to a pa, or mixer.
And nope, no suggestions. sorry. o wait, get a SANSAMP!

  3. Check out the Avalon U-5. You can use it as a direct box or a pre-amp.
