I have a hartke 4000 head, and i'm worried that i'm causing damage to my speakers as the little bugger seems to clip really easily (volume on 3!), I don't have particularly extreme sound settings, and i'm playing a p-bass though the passive input!

any help or ideas you can offer?

    cheers,
    phil.

By turning the 'D-bass' down you will find more available power.

I have the same problem. I just keep all of the settings nearly on flat, the bass knob on my bass down. I have been told that its because there is only one volume. With an input and output you can adjust it so you can play louder without it clipping or something. I'm thinking about replacing it.

That's a pain, i only bought the damn thing a few months back, i thought the hartke 4000 was a good head, but this clipping issue is really hurting me!
