High C vs. Low B

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by BaldBass, May 29, 2005.

  1. I recently got my first 5 string (Aria IGB-68/5) I like the bass but I'm less than fond of the low B tuning. I've been considering losing the low B and adding a high C. I've been told by some that I'll have to change the nut or suffer intonation problems. Has anyone gone this route, if so what is your opinion.

yep never had to change the nut and the intonation is fine, it depends what bass you have tho if its a higher end one anyway.

The neck with need adjusting. The higher string adds so much tension to the neck. I have done this once.. And I opted to buy a six string instead because I missed the low B so much.
