All sold. Thanks to all who expressed interest!

Thanks for checking out my sale thread. It's taken me awhile to work up the nerve to do this. Not sure how to proceed except to dive in.

    Two requests:
    1. To keep this thread clean, please start a conversation with (PM) me if you have questions on anything.
    2. Please scroll down and read the amp description(s) before you write with questions. There’s a good chance they will be answered there. That said, if you don’t see an answer to your question, write away and I’ll do my best to answer it!

WHAT’S ON OFFER (Detailed descriptions and more photos will follow in separate posts.)
    1. SOLD JULE AMPS MONIQUE TARDIS PREAMP (with extra 12au7 and EZ81) - $1050 $1000 $950.
    1. Magellan + Demmie OR Zephyr: $50 off.
    2. Magellan + Monique: $100 off
    3. Other combos? Ask via PM.

For instance, $1600 gets Monique AND the Magellan, shipped and insured, CONUS. Savvy readers will note that this is $10 less than the shipped price of a new Monique alone – you’re basically buying Monique and getting the Magellan, a burger, and fries for free. This is a nice way to try the two amps and might be helpful in giving you an idea of whether you’d want to hit up Jule for the Monique 700 conversion (see description) or not. Or you might decide that you like the Mo/Magellan setup just the way it is. Either way, you’ll have the Magellan as a capable, versatile and compact amp/small power amp.

All prices are shipped and insured, CONUS. Paypal okay.

    Thanks for looking!

JULE AMPS MONIQUE TARDIS – preamp only. Perfect functionally, very nice cosmetically. This is a 2013 build and has the push/pull LINE LEVEL and SENSITIVITY controls. Per Jule, this can be readily converted to a Monique 700 with the internal Hypex power module. (Last year, when I asked, the price for doing so was very reasonable compared to getting a new Monique 700 or picking up the separate M700 power amp, but you will have to ask Jule for details.) A new Monique Tardis runs $1555 + $55 shipping. $1610 total. Get this one for $1050 $1000 $950, shipped and insured, CONUS. That’s $560 $610 $660 off the cover price.

EDIT: As mentioned in the Monique thread, using a different rectifier tube (Monique takes an EZ-81) changes the feel slightly. I believe that the one in there now is an EHX (and I think that's what was in there when I got it). I tried a JJ in there as well (which is what Jule is using now). I preferred the slightly firmer feel of the EHX when I tried it, but that was awhile ago. I also tried a 12AX7 (inexpensive Mullard reissue) in place of the 12AU7 EQ driver tube. (When I asked Jule about it a couple of years ago, he said, "I have often used a 12AX7 in place of the 12AU7 because it has a different tone.") I found that I preferred the bit of extra grit/bite that I got with the Mullard reissue vs. the JJ 12au7/ECC82 that is stock but, again, that was awhile ago.

At any rate, I'll throw in the JJ EZ-81 and 12AU7 so that you can try them if you want to.

    EDIT: Added some sound clips.

SOLD ARKHAM ZEPHYR TUBE PREAMP. One rackspace, light, and all business. Beautifully built – even prettier inside than it is outside. Gets great flexibility out of a few simple controls and Micah, the builder, is a scholar and a gentleman.

I’ve put small rubber feet on the bottom (got the idea from the Demmie 201) so that you can set it down safely without scratching the armoire and to put a little safety buffer between it and the power-amp in the rack.

Aside from a few tiny scratches (pictured) incurred when I pulled the Zephyr out of the rack, there is only one issue: the captive nut at the back right of the pre (one of seven that receives the bolts that hold the lid on) spins a bit. I’ve left that screw out (also pictured), though I’ll send it, and priced the pre accordingly.

The Zephyr works well with a variety of tubes but is nicely responsive to tube rolling. Right now, in V1, I have an NOS, EI ECC83 (pre-war Yugoslavian tube made on Telefunken tooling – tried a bunch and this was my favorite; sounds huge and vibrant). V2 is a 12au7/ecc82 cathode follower. Doesn’t have as much effect on the sound and feel as V1, but I found the common Chinese 12au7 to be a little more clear than the JJ that was in there (and Micah confirmed this as a good choice), so that’s what’s in there now. $575 shipped and insured, CONUS.

I'll throw in the other tube that I really liked in V1, an old Hammond 12ax7, which gives the Zephyr a tighter, less extended, but more focused sound than the EI tube does. It's a nice contrast if you want to try a bit of tube rolling.

SOLD DEMETER 201 TUBE PREAMP with Jensen DI option. The original, 1.5 rackspace, Innovative Audio version with the 3KHz/6KHz presence switch and the old-school, unregulated power supply. Has the Jensen transformer on the DI (pictured). Sweet, sweet tone and kicks like a mule. Regarded by many as being JD’s best sounding preamp ever. I have an NOS JAN-Phillips AT7 in V2, which thickend/firmed up things a bit and just sounded and felt more “right” than the JJ that was in there before. (Note, 12 AX7 in V1, AT7 in V2 is the correct setup for this pre.) In V1 I’m currently running a Sovtek 12AX7 LPS, which gives a nice balance of articulation, texture, and midrange presence, but the 201 reacts well to a variety of tubes and you can tweak the character a fair bit with tube choice. $450, shipped and insured, CONUS.

SOLD GENZLER MAGELLAN 800. 2.67 Ohm capable. I am the original owner. I’ll ship it in its original box with the power cable and user manual (disclosure: I creased the manual, if this matters to you). The Magellan can be yours for $650, shipped and insured, CONUS. (Check out the OP for package deals -- $50 to $100 off, if you pick this up with a pre.)

Note: I’ve found that the Magellan works well as a small power amp. The effects return/power-amp input of the Magellan is very easy to drive and very clear – moreso than other amps I've tried.

SOLD MESA BOOGIE WALKABOUT. Black-on-silver version, passive and active inputs. A classic for a reason. 2 Ohm capable. Harmonically rich and spunky. In my experience, second only to Monique in a achieving a nice tube “bounce” without being a full-on tube amp. The WA responds beautifully to tube rolling, too. It’s worked flawlessly while I’ve had it – never so much as a hiccup. Loaded with JJ short-plate tubes, which have a lot of midrange attitude and a nice, tight response. (If you want to extend the bass and treble response and smooth the mids out a bit, you can try a gold-pin JJ short plate in V2.)

Nice shape, inside and out. There is a tiny, triangular indentation on the back, bottom-right corner (pictured) that was there when I got the amp.

    $450, shipped and insured, CONUS.

  10. So tell the truth Mark, are you doing the purge to buy a SonicFarm amp? Or what?

Dude, boundaries. There could be any number of reasons I'm selling all this stuff. If you must know, I've developed an addiction to Fanta...

...and am selling everything to fund that.

  13. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha sorry man, I know you have a lot of nice gear so this sent the wheels of curiosity turning. Right now I need to purge a bunch of stuff to buy a new/used car. It's tough when I have Porsche tastes and only a Volkswagon budget! Haha

    Superman had kryptonite...
Almost a country song, yet not, somehow.

EDIT: @Kirk Bryant , until a few years ago (and for a long time before that) I drove a car with non-operational locks and a leaky sunroof that would dump half a gallon of water down my back at the first stoplight of a cold morning. It required frequent push-starting (often followed by a Dukes of Hazzard-type maneuver, since I was the one doing the pushing -- nothing like working up a good sweat before walking into work). I had it in various stages of disassembly multiple times (some proud moments, there) in the effort to keep it going. I would've driven it another year if I could've, but had to put it down when the cylinder head cracked -- overheated after possum-induced radiator failure on the highway. (Sorry, possum.) All this is to say...

I feel your pain (though I've now traded that particular pain for the pain of monthly payments).

Added a small sweetener to the Monique and the Zephyr -- an extra tube with the Zephyr and a couple of extra tubes with Monique, for those who want to try some modest tube rolling. (See descriptions for details.)
