I see a number of threads relating to high mass bridges but have yet to find a definition of "high mass". Is it the density of the metal it is constructed of?

In part it is the material, but more often it's just the overall weight of the bridge. One with a chunky base plate and beefy saddles will be a higher mass than an old-style fender bent plate, rod-saddle type.
