High Powered 10" speakers

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Roger Heroux, Mar 27, 2001.

  1. Would anyone know of 400 watt 10"? I believe my Pro-IV is to much for my Eden 2X10XLT. EV states their 10" work well with 300 to 600 watts of amplification. Any ideas?

There are some high power-handling (300 wRMS) 10" drivers available from Eminence. However, if you are thinking about replacing the drivers in your Eden cabinet, that is something I would *not* recommend unless you are a loudspeaker design expert. My guess is the Eden drivers are very well matched to that cabinet, and unless you really know a lot about loudspeaker engineering, your chances of having the cabinet sound as good may be slim.

Not only that, but if you were to replace the Eden drivers with ones that can handle more power but were less efficient, you might wind up with *less* volume, not more.

I don't have that cabinet, but if you're not getting enough volume out of it by driving it to its power limit, then you need more/bigger speaker cabinets!
