i'm sick of all the small stores that carry nothing but ibanez near me.

and the superstores like GC and SamAsh just plastic wrap the really good stuff and laugh when you ask for it.

Not to mention the less than surmountable prices.

Does anyone know of any better, more higher end and personal stores in the New Jersey/New York area?

  4. Yeah. I been there. Not impressive from the outside, it's pretty small. But I'll take a tiny store full of cool stuff over a huge store full of Squier Bullets any day! Plenty of cool stuff. You're pretty much guaranteed to find something you wish you could afford. Unless you can afford it; if so, buy one for me!

You should take this question over to the Dingwall board...Go and ask Sheldon if he knows of any shop in your area...If not, ask if anyone on the board is in your area and will let you try one out. You may have to 'order out' for a Dingwall.

Yes. I've played several there. NJ Guitar & Bass Center is a great high end shop. Jay is a very knowledgable guy. Check it out!

Yeah, Jay at NJ guitar and bass center is a good guy. If you're looking for vintage stuff, Good Guys Guitars is great. www.goodguysguitars.com. They have the best selection of older basses and Kevin is extremely knowledgeable and fair. You probably won't find Dingwall's there though.

I played a Dingwall Super J two days ago for the first time. It was heaven. I though it was amazing. I actually think I might prefer the fanned frets. It also had a really nice neck. Too bad I couldn't take it home with me.:crying:

Jay will give you a better deal if you pay with cash, so stop at the bank before you go.;)

How does Lark Street stack up to those other two?
