This is a super high quality Skyline Lakland or as I like to call it....a FLakland. Beautifully grained Ash body with Maple fretboard. Made in Korea. Here's the scoop on the upgrades. Lane Poor Soapbar pickups Aguilar OBP3 with mid switch and active/passive switch Pat Wilkins black grain Ceruse finish on a sculpted down 5501 body. It's kinda like a Lakland meets Fbass. I've owned US Laklands, Fbasses and about everything else but you can't imagine how killer this combo sounds both live and studio. Yeah. Not a lightweight at 10 lbs 2 ounces but the balance of the new body shape more than makes up for it. pics aren't going to do this bass justice. You know how much Lane Poors go for and how hard to find they can be. You know how awesome Pat Wilkins finishes are and especially this one. You know how versatile and great sounding Aguilar OBP3 are. That why this is a great deal at I have well over $1300 in this bass. Yours for $995 shipped.
I have personally got to examine and play this one. It is a work of ART!! You can occasionally find these 5501's modded but this one is off the charts maxed out!!!!! Halegroove is an absolute perfectionist in his gear and in his playing abilities...........whoever gets this will be one happy camper!! This is the same price as a used 5502 but ten times better!!
Halegroove has ModulusAcacia here on Talkbass also known as Justin Kennedy do all his setup/installs, etc. Justin is fanatical about setting up to Maximum playability. The old-- plays like butter-- doesn't even do this one justice. If you like low, low action---and some of us do.........then you will love this one. It goes a lot lower than my old 5501, just letting you know. It's hard to tell some things just by looking at the pix.
You can see how rounded the sides are now instead of that blocked off look that 5501s and other Laklands usually have.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. This is truly a great one that has quite a bit of interest going.
Thanks much if you can. These upgrades probably did a lot to help the sound, which would be a major selling point.
