Hipshot bt4

Hey, I play a '03 American Standard Jazz bass and I want to throw on a hipshot detuner on there, but my question is this: would it leave permanent "scars" if I wanted to switch it back? I sort of wanted to keep this bass stock and just tinker with my fretless MIM, but this is the bass that switches tunings the most (50% of the songs I play are in D). I'm not looking to sell it, there's no real reason to leave it stock. Anyway, were I to switch it back, would the holes from the hipshot be hidden by the original tuner?
