I just received a set of Hipshot HB5 tuners for my '96 Rickenbacker 4003 and was "surprised" (to put it lightly) that the supplied peghead bushings aren't even close to fitting the factory drilled holes in the headstock. My Ric is totally stock and unmodified so I find it a little disturbing that Hipshot would sell items that are so undersized that they won't even fit the instrument they were designed for. Anyone else have this experience or am I the only one who got hosed?

Hi Cosmo, I'm sorry you had that experience with our product. I believe you called us yesterday and had this resolved. Is that correct?

Hosed? Seems a little strong. Sounds like there was a mistake somewhere.

Hipshot's service is legendary. Apparently they are moving to correct any problem that exists. Please post the outcome so that others will know how it is resolved.

I phoned Hipshot customer service and, true to legend, they are supplying me with a set of the "larger" Rickenbacker bushings. Apparantly, some Ric basses use larger bushings than the ones typically supplied with the HB5 tuner kit. Kudos to Hipshot! It's service like this that makes customers come back again and again.

Glad to hear it worked out Cosmo.

The root of the issue here is that Rickenbacker made a few basses with slightly bigger headstock holes. I'm not sure how many but the number is relatively small.

Here's a picture of the two different bushings.
