  4. Not worth the time or effort...E is low enough or I'll use a tuner.

Well, since they're release in 1982, Billy Sheehan has been abusing Hipshot Xtenders, and since I could afford them, so have I. How many of you out there swear by Hipshots and why?

I know I'm always bouncing from D to E and can't bear the fact that I may have to use a tuner. Honestly, I just love the growl of the low D on my Stingray so I tend to abuse it :)

Billy is the one that turned me onto them, I had one installed on this Hamer in 1986.I love the sound of the low "D".

My band plays two songs in drop D tuning.
I have a hipshot for that reason. Otherwise, I don't use it at all.... and never abuse it. Bought it used for $45.

Are they that accurate?? I can stomp the tuner and tune E-D in about 5 seconds. My other strings rarely go out of tune.
  6. my geetar player uses a detuner (not hipshot, i'm not sure what brand it is) to drop from his C# tuning down to B. i'm always on B.

I have one installed. I rarely use it but it's nice to know it's there.
