C just seems better tied-together visually, to my tastes.

I choose C but B is nice too, I typically don't care for black hardware, looks cheesy to me most of the time

I voted c, but what about a black 3 layer guard, chrome hardware? - I’m just not a fan of tort on a red bass. Practically every other color tho! Congrats again on a very nice build. It came out great!

Never been a fan of any tort on a 51 style. Option C is awesome.

I'd say white guard and black hardware, if I had the option. I'm biased as those are the colours Canada uses when involved in international competition.

A...What the heck, go black...you can always change it, and as you said, you don't usually go that route.

I like the contrast with the white PG on that red. The chrome will go better with the white and will match the control plate (unless you have a black one you didn't show), so that combo works for me.

Black hardware, black pickguard - the contrast will be nice against the red. I have a few times painted pickguards - I use barbeque black paint, then scrape the edges, so you get the black/white stripes on the edge, then a coat of semi gloss clear poly over that - gives a nice sheen. It's easy to do, looks sharp, and doesn't show fingerprints like a gloss pickguard.

I'd use a black pearl pickguard with black hardware. But you probably don't want to buy another pickguard.

Black hardware works on a black or natural finish for me Don’t really care for it on anything else.

Tort on red might work. But it’d have to be just the right shade and pattern of tort. The one in the picture doesn’t do it for me.

White on red with chrome (or better yet an off white or cream) is a classic and classy look. So of the three choices I’d opt for C.

Props for putting a G&L pup in that baby. I get the feeling it’s going to sound pretty awesome. :roflmao:

I saw a guitar in a pawn shop in Tocoma a couple of months ago that was the baddest combination I've ever seen.
It was CAR with some kindda red PG (tort-ish, perloid, or something), and it had a maple neck.

I’ve never seen a guitar/bass the same color as the PG that awesome.

With that said, I’d do white because the red/tort you have is not a good match imho.
You can’t go wrong with red/white/chrome.

The tort on red hurts my eyes. So C was my choice...
But if the goal is weird and kinda ugly, I could see that. The black hardware would look the part, too, though only if the ultimate goal is ocular offense.
