Hofner Club bass (2005) pup won't move down

I'm trying to lower the neck pup which is sounding to loud on the E string 3rd fret G note. It overwhelms all the other strings and notes. So, I want to lower the pup, what else is there? Oh, just use the bridge pup, yes, I am but, it would be nice to have a functional neck pup.
