Does anyone know the difference between a Hofner Icon and a Hofner Hi-series? I was told the Hi is a newer model of the Icon, and I've also read it's not as nice as the icon. I can't see any difference between the two, and when I search the Hi-series the search results show Icons. Do you guys have any info? Thanks in advance!
Thats kind of interesting because I cant seem to find any other's then the B-Bass Hi Series in that average price range, I realize there are others but much more money after the Contemporary Series one..I call mine an Icon but actually it doesn't say that anywhere on it and I know mine sells for about $400.00 depending on where your at and Tax Etc..
FYI, Icon Series is no longer made. It was made in China. Ignition Series is the replacement for the Icon. It's made in Indonesia. Contemporary (HCT) is made in China different factory than where the Icon was made. Hope this clears this up for you. TD
If you want the 'McCartney' old school proper Hofner sound, then its the Ignition...The Contemporary has a Tone block in the chambered body and gives it a more modern sound..Both still sound lovely though
