Its just an old Fender Jazz. Nothing to get indignant about.

8,000? Previously unknown prototype, hand sanded by Leo in his basement?

I had a '59 P a lefty had cut the top horn down on....these days the neck plate is worth more than I paid for the whole bass.
I teched on the road for a guy who'd put a Floyd Rose in his '54 Strat.
There was a time when old Fenders were just used basses. In my mind they still are....

Well, it's certainly not pretty and the price asked is outrageous, that much we can agree on, but from there and then to calling vandalism for modding a mass produced product, no matter how hideous that mod might be, and then to even think it is fair to mutilate the guy who did it is a bit far of a stretch I'd say.

Based on the wording in your post I would even say you probably might be even more psychologically damaged than the guy who did that.

How dare the previous owner do what he wants with the inanimate object he owned. For shame.
  7. It looks like a wax model that was left too close to a hot radiator.

That bass should be priced somewhere around $1000-1500 because of the body mods. $8000 is a collector price for unmodded basses with original finishes.

Didn’t know old Fenders had a problem with melting.

I’m having trouble understanding how it’s worth more than $250.

The only idiot in this situation is the GC store manager that spent about three grand on that.

Disclosure: I am not a great bass player
The strap button on the back of the headstock is missing. $7,989.99 is the highest I would go.

Don't quite understand what makes it worth $8K, but it does come with a case so there's that.
