    Well, here's what I get for saying any band I'm in never got a chance...

    I've been rehersing with a local band, RANSOM, since about late August. Our progress has been pretty steady. Actually, we've been busting ass and getting songs togeather. Our plan was to start gigging in January. Well, that was untill our singer decided to call up an old favor and have a lil' meeting with a So Cal promoter/manager. Apperently he was so impressed with how our singer handled himself and from what the promoter heard on a rehersal tape our singer brought along that he offered us, right then and there, a headlining gig at an all-ages club in Orange County (I did'nt catch the name of the club. The singer was too busy practically peeing himself. :D ) on the 26th of this month.

    So, for better or worse, I guess we're making our debut a little earlier then expected. But let it go to show that perseverence and hard work in the biz eventually pay off.

    And hey, if you're in the area and want to come see a local Talkbasser, let me know. I'm sure I can scam ya'll a few tics. ;)

    That is cool. I wish I was in that area to see it. Good luck!

  3. Thats a bit like my band. Although we knocked back gigs until we were ready. And its paid off because now we're supporting huge bands, and we've only done two shows!

    Make sure you track down your pay as soon as possible. One show we did, there wasno place to keep the gear so we went home. The woman running the show decided she'd hand out the money on the night and so we missed out. But last night she was at a gig and the singer and i spoke to her. The look on her face when two burly metal heads walk up to her = :eek:

    Also, don't be disappointed if no-one is there to see you guys, then ppl turn up for the bands afterwards etc. We played to a empty room once. It can be good, lets u get used to stages etc.

    Merls

    Ahh, I almost forgot to post an update. Here goes;

    Dispite drummer problems (i.e. our drummer is a jackass) we pulled off a helluva show. We shared teh bill with a 9 peice soul band (the kicked, by the way), a blues band, and some weird group called the Presidential Pimps. It was great, we played for about 25-30 people (it's hard to count with stage lights in your eyes). In fact, we did such a good job that the promoter called US back 4 days later and offered us a gig at In Cahoots in Riverside on the 6th of December. Oh, and I actually got aome applause during my bass feature. All in all, a great night.

  9. Yes that's all good and fine, but what does it all have to do with this exciting religious excrement you speak of??
