I have a boombox with detachable speakers and want to try swapping them with different speakers. It clearly says "4 ohms" next to the speaker terminals, but couldn't I substitute 6 or 8 ohm speakers without blowing anything up?

  2. No problem. If the existing speakers are 4 Ohms, then anything at or above that impedence will work fine. You'll lose some power if you go 6 or 8, but I wouldn't worry about it...
