I was thinking about perhaps getting one of these. An old bandmate used to run them through a mixer and got some good live albums out of it. Thing is, I have no idea if his deck was a multitracker or not, and he also had the software to edit the mix afterwards.

What I was wondering was whether anyone has used these without a mixer, ie, just going direct. How did it sound, and what brand was it? Are there any other recording tools that are more worthwhile, for that kind of money? (Not software; I don't have a computer at home)

    Thanks in advance!
