  1. I need to find out what I need to build a PC based home recording system.

Here is what I want to do.

Build drum tracks. (either with software or a Roland R-5)
Plug my bass into the computer.
Record bass lines over the drum tracks.
    Add effects to the bass.
    Record vocals.

All of this on my PC. What do I need?

there's a program out there called drag and drop drummer and it's wonderful. the url for it is:

    http://www.dddrummer.com

i use the program and think it sounds pretty good and it's easy to use. you can hear the drum tracks at my mp3 site. also, i bought cakewalk which i like although it's not quite as easy to use.

    hope this helps.
