There has been a lot of question regarding the true wattage of heads (i.e., TC Electronic BH series), a lot of questions regarding RMS of cabinets... methods used for calculation (Bugera)... I was wondering if there was a more consistent way to determine what a head/cabinet is capable of producing.

Is there a consistent way to measure what a head/cab combination can do?

In some ads I've read something like XX dB at 1 meter. Is that an accurate measure? Or do some speakers louder than others at 1 meter, but not at 20?

The same thing goes for SPL?

Just looking to get educated on the topic.
