Hooking up a combo amp to a cab...very important!

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by xMIKExFDLx, Aug 16, 2002.

  1. Hey...a friend of mine is about to purchase an extension cab for his SWR LA15 combo amp. But the amp has no speaker out jack. It only has jacks for input, mix in, tuner in, and headphones in...is there still a way that he could hook it up to a cabinet?

not really. he'd have to take off the back panel of both the combo and cab and re-wire all the speakers in series. so i wouldnt recomend it. but i havent had much experience with this sorta thing but that just my guess

I suggest you stop your friend before he does it. It's not possible without the external speaker jack unless you do what handlax said and even then both speakers would have to be 16 ohms and it's hard to find a 16 ohm cabinet.
