hey all, i must admit, i hadn't picked up my bass in a month or so due to lots of stuff goin on, but i picked it up today, and when i turned the amp, it was all silent. no hiss or anything. i plugged in the input cable, and the loudest most annoying buzzing came out of the speaker. i unplugged the guitar from the amp, and it still buzzed, so i dont think its the guitar. the cable is also brand new, i dont think its that either. any ideas?

Without the cable plugged in ...

    Try another power outlet.

See if the noise stops/changes when you push on the input jack.

See if it stops when you reduce the setting on all the knobs to 5.

I've got a Peavy Basic 112 I've had for about 2 years and it does the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure it's in the input jack, because it stops when you wiggle it a little. I think I'm gonna put a new jack in there and trade it in for something else soon.
