It's such a fascinating process, this whole attracting women thing.

I head out of town for a weekend to gig and I find that the bass player thing sorta kinda left a cool impression with this mid-twenties gal who was actually quite fetching.

I'll be married in a month and a half, so I gave no thought to her obvious attempts at flirting. I was nice, but let her know I am engaged. I left town still faithful, but with an honest friend, at the very least.

My only gripe... Why didn't this bass thing work out like this when I was a teen?! :roflmao:

You didn't have long hair, spandex, too much gear, a fog machine, and a road crew?
There's your early daze problem mate!

Just kidding. It's not all they say it is or what you imagine.
Fun for a while but boring and isolating after 10 or so years of having women grabbing at you, dragging you in bathrooms or hotel rooms, etc. Back then(70's and 80's for me), only a few of them had special things to share that ruined your health for a short while, now they're are some with deadly shares and let's not forget the "Fatal Attraction" sick ones who will literally destroy your home(been there, done that, no T-shirt but insurance paid for damages and then cancelled me) or try to have you wife/girlfriend exterminated so they can have YOU......until they get bored with you and then you're done.

I was a nice guy. I couldn't afford to be a poopiehead when I was seemingly an eternal loner!

That was south Louisiana and Mississippi in the 70's and 80's. Fun times.
The house thing was during the social experiment where multiple women had an interest in one bass player. Thankful I survived.
The "hot girl"(model) in the MTV video "Here I Go Again"

and "Is This Love" by Whitesnake is an example of "hot" becoming psycho
(Tawny Kitaen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Read the section titled"Legal Troubles".

PS: There are rumors that once the hot ones hit the 45-55 age bracket, extreme mental issues may be experienced. Good luck.

Not sure if you're joking, but I often get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about who I used to be.
  9. Man, I just looked at google images, and that's another tragic example of "hot" becoming "Steven Tyler." Plastic surgery can be so sad.

LOL, I hadn't even realized the following till I just read that last line...

I was pretty happening with the ladies as a teen. And being a shy guy back then, girls chased me. That slowed down a great deal as I got older, and now that I'm married, happens only on incredibly rare occasions.

I played guitar up until I was 30, and then switched to bass :).

This should be a lesson for all the kiddies out there.

I'd like to think that as we get older, our increased sophistication and style trumps youthful beauty.

There's absolutely no proof that's ever the case.

But I still like to think it. ;)

I think the girl in this video is Steven Tyler's daughter.

There's always one, no matter where you gig.

  16. Congratulations. Is this going to be a TB Thread?

    Twinjet will say,
"I am getting dressed, got a set of strings in my pocket, you know, just in case."
" Tort was a great color choice."
" I am now walking down the isle to Stanley Clarke's School Days."
"Man, this guy is still talking, I just want to kiss her so I can play with my P."

i remember , way back , having these geographic limits on various relationship terms ... girlfriend - 20 miles , engaged - within said state , married - this planet ... all was fair outside these limits ( kinda like Vegas )

Therefore we can extrapolate that it didn't happen. TB rules 101 lol

  20. Yeah, in China it would have been pretty easy to score. Honestly, some girls knew I had a girlfriend and were pretty cool with it, usually saying something along the lines of "you have a girlfriend in Canada, not in China." I'm not proud to admit that saying no was difficult at times. And yes, some of it had to do with the fact that I'm a multi-instrumentalist.
