After raking the leaves for an hour and hauling firewood, i came in and made myself some hot cider. Its quite popular in the northeast. does anyone else love it as much as i do? There's something about it that makes you not feel the sunday depression.

Last cider I had was spiked with rum, but yeah, I've been known to enjoy cider.

Mmm.... Sounds delicious. When I was little my parents used to take us to this orchard in central NY where they made cider, it's was always awesome. It's been quite a while since I've had it, and this topic has sparked my appetite. I'll have to try it with some captain morgans in it as well. I doubt I'll find anywhere in the south to get it though. I guess add that to the list of stuff I miss from NY, good pizza and apple cider.

Yup. Spiced with a bit of lemon juice and a nice bit of rum.

It's what we were drinking on halloween, and prolly what I'll be drinking tonight once I get out of work.

  7. Do you guys drink snakebite? Half cider, half lager..?

Hmm, I like mulled wine, but i don't think I could drink hot cider. Earlier this year I was horrendously drunk on several gallons of cider at a friends birthday party. I don't think I'll ever drink it again. I havn't been drunk since :meh:

  11. Yo! Hot spiced cider is the drink for the season. Down here in the Southeast, we're just getting to the right kind of weather for it.

And yes, rum is the right way to add some "octane".

  12. wow...that's a lot of cider, man...

    my g/f loves cider...

    ...and captain morgan...

Raking autumn leaves and hauling firewood, then enjoying a hot cider in upstate NY brings to mind one of those classic Americana images.

In that case, I'm picturing a bassist for some grunge rock band from the Pacific Northwest, circa 1991. No cider then-just flat Rainier beer out of last weekend's pony keg (sorry).
