I know where you're coming from on this Ken, and in some ways its kinda like taking a Bentley and then putting custom rims and a custom paint job on it. However..............if you can forget the fact that this is an MTD, and if you can get that classic MTD image out of your head (those are some big "ifs"!), this is an absolutely stunning bass in it's own right. If you were a bassplayer that was sheltered and had never seen a "normal" MTD, and then you saw this one, you might have a more positive reaction.
+1 I would prefer the black covers as well. I ama more traditional (ie: jazz body and normal wood) guy. but Holy Mary Mother of God. That thing is amazing!
Hi Vision, We didn't add a coil tap to this particular one because it meant drilling another hole and someone may or may not want that option on their bass. It could definitely be done though.
LOL, my bad... I even searched for recent MTD threads by subject, so yours didn't come up. Maybe the mods can merge the threads or something.
Gorgeous bass. I have to remind myself to get a photo up somewhere of my MTD so the world can really see the ultimate MTD bass. Let me turn of my narcissistic voice now.
There's ONE more thing that this bass could use to really put it over the top as being not your "normal" MTD...matching buckeye knobs with a purpleheart laminate...like the ones Tom and Vic have one their Marilyn MTD's.
yeah the one thing im not so fond of is the pickup covers but then at the saem time they make it unique, so i guess it is a love it or hate it thing with those. i really dig the accents though, they are great! Dave
I love the contrast... 2 of my 3 basses have fingerboard matching wood covers. It's the fact they look like someones pre teen kid screwed a couple 2x4 scraps to the coffee table! (I'm not knocking MTDs at all... they are some of the best basses I'v played!!! Just the "Look" of this one)
