I know they're not an exact match but I don't think they look bad. I once saw a buckeye top boutique with pickup covers and body made of an orange-brown wood... mahogany, maybe? I thought the orange tinted wood clashed badly with the bluish buckeye.

That is an exceptionally beautiful bass, even if it does have too many strings. :D

Joel, couldn't you add the coil tap as a push/pull on a knob, instead of drilling a hole for a mini-toggle? I would personally really love to have that option.

that is a wonderful looking bass. The one for me though was a 5 string he had at Bass Player Live this past weekend.

It was a quilted redwood top. BUT, the redwood came from the bottom of a lake where it had sat for ....I think....Mike said 60 to 70 years. In that process, it turned a dark, walnut color from absorbing minerals.

Anyway...simply beautiful. I would have picked it up if I hadn't just purchased a KS 6 string.

My next bass will be an MTD. Wonderful instruments built by a real gentleman.....I'm a big fan. I hadn't really even played them until Mike Dimin turned me on to them.

Yes, black redwood is quite the top wood. There are a bunch of folks here who have those tops.

  6. I can say with absolute certainty that you are not a "10," so you will not be doing any such thing to that poor bass. Shame on you. :spit:

    Tom,

We could probably do a push pull as well. That would be a better fit.

I'm not sure that I'd love this one in single coil mode though as the back coil is a bit close to the bridge for my tastes. Maybe the outer coil on the neck pickup and inner coil on the bridge might work... I'd have to experiment a bit though.

I believe that it sold shortly after hitting the sales floor.
