anyone know if the 6267/EF86 has ever been applied to a bass preamp?
i know Dr.Z,Matchless, and my tiny Tophat amp use this valve in guitar applications.
    thanks for any input/opinions.-:)
  2. Not generally. The EF86 is HIGHLY microphonic and is usually run in pentode operation for higher preamp gain for overdrive. Its most famous application is the Vox AC30. Bass would generate a higher plate current than it likes and it would sound like doo-doo.
