how can i judge relief on my fretless neck

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by lowfrez, Nov 3, 2001.

  1. I am having a bit of a problem setting up my fretless. On a fretted bass i just use a straight edge like a ruler to judge the relief. But, on a fretless it's a little hard to do this. i've just been eyeballing it lately, but i would like to know how others go about this task.

I don't see why you couldn't use the straight edge...
I just push the string down at either end of the neck and check it in the middle with a business card. Low tech but fast and effective.
