How do I figure out what pickups are in my MIM P Bass?

I bought a used P Bass from GC. A previous owner had added a mediocre tortoise pickguard and knurled chrome knobs. I believe that the pickup is non stock. I have an old Jazz Bass with EMG active pickups from the 80s. The P bass is a lot louder. At jams I have had the house bassist ask if my bass was active because it puts out more oomph than any active he has ever met. (ain't no battery in there)

The pickups are great and have wonderful tone in addition to super high output.

Unless this is common for a 1999 MIM P, these are not stock. How can I identify these monsters?

Thanks TB for knowing the answers to every question.

  2. You will need to at least post pictures.

Active pickups are not any louder than passive pickups.

I have a 2000 MIM Precision, and I just love the sound. Nice growl, good output. Love it for what it is.
