That is my current quest. To get this tone from a bass.

Wich bass/effect is being used here??

Looks like a P, but slaps lika a jazz... really strange...

My only guess is that it goes through some chorus... :meh:

    Opinions????

To me it sounds like a p with EMG pickups. That doesn't sound like j slap sound to me.
You said it looks like a p - where can we see a pic?

    sorry man...sounds like a p... :D ;)

I don't believe the Pups are EMG... This song was released in 1979... and this is a common tone in brazilian records from that era (1976-1981).

The big problem is that there is no info about who played these lines that time.. they were usually studio musicians from the record label...

I can identify a kind of a P roundness, probably played with a pick...

but that slap is strange... I played a Fender Geddy Lee that slapped that way other day...

    IMO-
...definitely sounds like a P-bass; guys who were in '70s R&B/Funk/Soul bands of that era had that kinda vibe when popping their Precisions.

That is defintley a P. It sounds like one with rounds and the treble on full, but it is a P. I couldn't say for sure what pups are in, but that is the sound of a P with rounds. IMO of course.
