The recent Fender threads have caught my interest a bit, but despite all the talk about MIM vs MIA ms American made, I can't seem to figure out how I know where the bass I'm looking at was made. Can someone please enlighten me?

  2. Most of the time, it's written under the fender logo on the headstock.

it's clearly written made in usa or made in mexico

That works when I go into a store, but I'm mostly looking online right now to get an idea what I want to look at someday when I have money my wife will let me spend on this. Is this one of those any model could be made anywhere things, or is, for example, the Jazz Standard MIA while the Highway 1 series is made here? Just want to make sure I'm having GAS over the right thing ;)

  4. Serial numbers...

  5. the standard series is mim
    the american series is MIA

  6. also, you can look at the price tag...if it is 300-400 dollars, its probably mim...if its 800+, then its probably MIA

highway 1's are mia to the best of my knowledge
