Toasted. I voted ... Dark golden, a bit more crunchy ... and then slathered with real butter ... enough to soften it up a bit. Then dipped in over easy eggs .... then ... damn it, now I gotta go eat something ....
This is very close to my favorite way. Add a coating of good jam or jelly before being dipped in the eggs and then it is right (for me).
How do I like my toast? I like it best when it's sitting next to an omelet, some bacon, and hash browns. Mmm-mmmH!
Lightly toasted sourdough with an even, to all edges, spread of Irish butter. The perfect egg yolk dippin' and soppin' device. At the end of breakfast a nice thin coat of apple butter on my last slice ends the meal nicely.

I like my toast on both sides of rare roast beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, roasted red pepper, mayo, salt and pepper.
Nearly perfect. Keep the salad, feed it to a rabbit. Keep the mayo, add it to the potato salad. Add a bit of olive oil to the toast and some garlic butter.
