Looking at how Brett Favre's name is spelled, everyone says "farv". How does the "R" get there before the "V"?

It looks like fahv-ray to me. Any linguistic types out there?
  2. How his name is "farv" and how OJ got away with murder remain the two biggest mysteries in NFL history.

His name really is "Fahv-Ray", but I'll let Gard fill you in - it's his favorite subject. Brett's his number one guy, right Gard?

    ...quick & dirty:

The Favre (Fav-ray) family is pretty widespread in southern Mississippi, and there is a "good" side and a "bad" side.

The good side pronounces their name "Fav-ray", which is the proper way. The other pronounciation? You figger it out...

Let's just say that Brett's sister was arrested for shoplifting in Biloxi a few years ago...then was arrested for being involved in a drive-by shooting in Slidell, LA as well.

You'd think with a brother that has that kinda scratch, you wouldn't be needin' to shoplift, hm? :p

Watched him get tossed down a flight of stairs once too. He deserved it - he ain't the nice guy that the media and the NFL portray him as, unfortunately. He is, however, quite talented.

Oh, and Packie, I've never heard that one before, ever....

I dunno... I can see the 'farv' pronunciation... I've lived my whole life with 'lefebvre', (lu-fav... long a), so I can sympathize!!!
