I am totally stressed right now. I'm finishing out a school year and my band students are somewhat ready to play at graduation. The parents can be a little touchy, and they've all got clout with the school board because it's a small town.

I'm also in the midst of receiving shipments of various parts, tools, etc. and am preparing for my first bass build. I've got far too many things to think about. I've also got other home-related things to maintain, including a wife to keep happy...

Chemicals, alcohol, mantras, etc...what should I do? I'm up for suggestions. Popping in a CD and playing bass always puts crap out of my mind, but I can't do that 24/7 (Jesus, I wish I could), and I still haven't found anyone to play some good music with in my area (hey, anyone in the San Joaquin County area want to jam?).

    I need a break :help:

Play a round of golf. Works for me. You could also grab a fishing pole, and drop a line in a local river/lake. I'll do that too.

yeah just get out, play a game either golf, soccer then go for a beer or 2 or 3 or whatever with a few friends in a nice quiet pub. works like a charm.

i play hurling with a mate of mine, its great you can justsmack that ball and relieve all your stress. for those of you who dont know what hurling is its an irish sport (nothing to do with getting sick). do a google on it, its a great sport and lots of fun.

When I'm stressed, I boat out to where there are no people or buildings and soak up the quiet. I might also throw out a line, but if I catch anything, it goes back in the lake.

Peace and quiet is underrated, IMO, and getting some will do wonders for your demeanor. Best thing is, there is no talking.

Boating, fishing, and beer-ing. If I mix all three I get really relaxed.

Do you have a will ready?

In all seriousness, I would suggest some simple meditation. Breathing exercises can be done almost anywhere, anytime.
