Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by mike phillips, Feb 10, 2006.

  1. it dont seem to matter what he plays a ric or a fender he always has that same tone. how does he get it? is it strings, effects, amp what gives geddy his sound?

  2. probably EQ and a lot of bridge pickup from the little I've heard of him. Not that amazing.

Listen to the albums with the Wal or the Stienburger. The tone is, IMO, totally different.

What albums does he use the Steinberger on?

  7. Okay, first of all it's doesn't...

Secondly, you need to listen a little harder.

  8. I think his sound differs greatly between instruments he uses. The only time I had trouble identifying which bass he was using was on Moving Pictures, but he was using a good bit of overdrive on that one.

He uses the Steinberger on Grace Under Pressure.

  9. Also when he was playing the Wal's he played a lot by the bridge pickup, as with the the Fenders and Ric's he'd be up near the neck pickup.
