that's a galveston instrument - they suck. they are _not_ hand made, but made in a factory in asia. they have crappy electronics and very poor design, imo. not worth 1/2 of a conklin gt7.

    check out the nut spacing:

that's a little worrisome to me.
I haven't played one though, so can't say. Have heard JT's thoughts echoed elsewhere however.

I did own a GT7f for a while, and they are great. I'll probably end up with another one day, you just can't beat that wenge/purpleheart neck. So nice!

a used one should go for about $700, give or take, maybe less depending on the market

Do a search for Galveston. Some store in Ohio is always selling them Di Fore music I think. Look at the body style and especially the bridges on the other models. Don't let your gas have you to make a bad purchase.:)

SHHH! Don't mention that Conklin ;) I'm trying to win it at the moment. Have no idea what the reserve is, though. God I want it so bad.

Awww thank you! I dunno if I'll be able to afford it though, if the reserve is over 500 I'm bowing out.

Nah, I gonna relax. But, I do have a Galveston 12-string, already. While I couldn't play it alnight, it is a kick and was less than 300 bucks.

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
The nut spacing on that pic is absolutely embarrassing!!!!!

Avoid ANYTHING with the brand name "Galveston"!

Well - problem is, half the time it's under a different brand name! ;)

How about: avoid anything with BAT INLAYS on the fretboard! :D

I could hardly play mine at all - the neck dive was so bad on it. But I have small hands and can't afford to support the neck with my left hand while I play.

The electronics were also. . .interesting. It sounded OK though.

Well, years of playing a Ripper teaches you how to live with neck-dive...

(Geshel - you always have the most bizarre avatars. Where do you find this stuff?)

On another note, who is Kristoffer Gildenlöw?

at least the lettering on the HS is oh-so-classy.
