How does one calculate the Mensure of their instrument

    See above, I need to measure the Mensure on my bass so,the luthier can use it to
    Determine the fingerboard length on my new bass. How does one calculate this?

    ...Make sure the bridge is in the correct location and shape, though. A bridge that is bending or mis-located will throw off the measurement (not a lot, but some.)

    I have a vague recollection that the mensure is 6/11ths of the distance from the nut to the saddle, however with scale lengths being played with to make things more ergonomic etc. all bets are off particularly with basses. as a result, pick the scale length you want and put your f's where the notches line up for you.
