How does the finish affect the tone!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by RSmith, Jan 17, 2004.

  1. I recently stripped my MIA Jazz and left it natural with about 4 coats of tung oil. I then put fresh strings on and I could swear it sounds a little more subtle then before. Does anyone have any imput or experience with how different finishes affect the tone??
    Thanks,
    Robert

  3. What?

  4. I did the tung oil thing to a fretless jazz bass that I had and thought that it made for a much warmer tone.
