I have to make it my business to see this guy live in person ASAP!!
He just stands out above all the rest . I don’t think we will ever see another player quite like him again.
He is like Bootsy and Prince on steroids !!
A MonoNeon / Thundercat showdown... just imagine.
That would be epic!!
I think Thundercat would win in the vocals but Mono would take him in the instruments .
Me, I want to see him jam with Mohini Dey.
He was actually Prince's live bassisit juste before his death.
I know. I often wonder what we were robbed of by not getting to see this partnership fully explored to its fullest potential.
I don’t know. Mohini can certainly groove, but I think shredding is what truly fires up Mohini Dey. MonoNeon is the Funk and nothing but the Funk!
I wish I got out more because I know he has gigged in St. Louis a few times before the pandemic.
It is worth noting that MonoNeon’s five string of choice is a humble Lakland 55-01. This once again affirms that epic music is made by epic bassist’s. The instrument is secondary.
I saw him live, opening for Brittany Howard (of Alabama Shakes) in mid-2019. His band was doing some wild stuff that bordered on free jazz at times. I didn’t love it, but his playing was incredible!
Just think of the "cross-pollination" possibilities!
I dig the manifesto.
I’d like to see him with Bucket Head.
That would most likely be wild.
Fixed it for ya, Doc.
He’s so refreshing.
MonoNeon is the whole package, a great instrumentalist, who also promotes and applies advancements in music theory, and also drenches everything he does in social and cultural satire. Pure Art, with the capital A.
