How hard is it to remove/fit a pickguard?

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Mr. Zebraface, Dec 10, 2003.

  1. Hi, I just got my MIJ Fender P, in black with black pickguard. Now, I want to change it to a tort one. My question is, how easy or hard is it? Does it require me to remove the strings, knobs and pickups?

I'm just utter rubbish at anything technical and I don't wanna screw it up.:D

    Cheers for any response.

    You would need to remove:
    Control Knobs
    Jack socket
Grounding wire (if it has one)
    And refit them.
You should get away with just loosening the strings right off.
If you are wary of doing this take it to your local guitar shop and pay them the 20 quid or so to do it for you!

Isn't that some kind of soft cake - the consistency of cheesecake - that would be very hard to put on a bass without it falling off - like trying to nail jelly to a wall!!?? ;)
