Nothing too hard here, just throw it on a bathroom scale or something. Not the most accurate, I know.

My Jazz bass is around 8 lbs.

  2. about 7 lbs here on my Hamer Slammer

  9. fender mustang fretless = balsa wood
    ric 4003 = mid heavy
ric 4008 redneck = stupid neck heavy
ampeg adab1 = stupid heavy all around. could probably split wood if i sharpen the lucite.

if a comfy strap don't help then it's too heavy, otherwise weight ain't an issue with me.

I haven't been on a scale, but my 74 P-Bass feels like it weighs at least a thousand pounds.

  13. Oh i forgot, the acrylic soundgear body that i have weighs about 15 pounds. I don't use it cuz it gets the crappiest tone and resonance.

Not really the answer youre looking for I know, but does a bass have to be heavy to sound good? My current bass is an Encore, and its certainly heavy, but it doesnt sound particularly good!

just because a bass is heavy doesn't mean it will sound good - a bass made out of lead would sound attrocious.

i've found, in my experience, that the heavier instruments have better bottom end, all other things being equal, but that's a dangerous generalization to make in some cases.
