I've been listening to a lot of "Lateralus" lately. I am wondering how Justin Chancellor acheives the rhythm he uses in the beginning of Schism (5th track). It sounds like a bunch of hammer-ons but I can't tell, maybe some sort of tapping. Anybody know how he does it?

All it is is one long hammer on, from the open D string, to the C, C#, D.

  6. Here, this will make at least the main riff easier for you:

    G|---------10---9------------10----9--12--|
    D|0h10h12----0-----0h10h12-----0---0----|
    A|-----------------------------------------|
    D|-----------------------------------------|
